Matra Lip Balms Review

The winter season never really hit Mumbai and it has started to get a little warm already. However, one thing always remains constant for me irrespective of the weather – The dry lips problem! For someone like me, lip balms are such a crucial part of life.

I was sent these three flavored lip balms from Matra which I’ll be reviewing today:

  1. Strawberry Salve

  2. Kissable Kiwi

  3. Vanilla Ice

Continue reading to know how these worked for me and to find out which one is my favorite:) Also, there’s a discount code at the end of my blog!

My Review:

I’ve been using these lip balms for over a month on a daily basis. Since I have to use lip balms so often, I’m very particular about the kind of lip balms I pick. Matra claims that these lip balms are 100% natural and you get that fact pretty straight once you read the ingredients . I’ve listed some of them below (also adding the benefits of each of the ingredients, because I like knowing what I’m using).

Ingredients

Castor oil: contains ricinoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids. It possesses such great stability and resistance to oxidation, in fact, that it has an almost indefinite shelf life. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

Cctg: helps enhance the delivery of vitamins, pigments and other active ingredients contained in a solution so that they become evenly spread out and fully absorbed by the epidermis. It possesses such great stability and resistance to oxidation, in fact, that it has an almost indefinite shelf life.

Beeswax: contains Vitamin A and provides long-term moisturizing, actually locking moisture into the skin.

Shea Butter: considered a super food for the skin as it is  rich in precious constituents such as unsaturated fats with a large proportion of non-saponifiable components, essential fatty acids, vitamins E and D, phytosterols, provitamin A and allantoin.

Carrotseed oil:  Nourishes , tightens, and rejuvenates skin

Jacoba oil: I really can’t list down, there are so many. You must google this. But to list a few, jojoba oil works as a protectant and cleanser. Jojoba oil is rich in iodine, which fights harmful bacteria growth that leads to breakouts. The antioxidants present in jojoba oil soothe fine lines, wrinkles and naturally slow down signs of aging.

Well, that’s just a few of them. It definitely feels so reassuring to see the product loaded with such benefits ❤

Packaging

These lips balms come in a an elegant black colored packaging which I absolutely love. The product comes in a tube which you can twist as per your convenience to apply onto your lips.

First Impressions

Strawberry Salve: has a very pretty magenta pink kinda shade, but appears clear on the lips with a slight pinkish tint if you coat it multiple times. It smells insanely yummy, like some strawberry syrup! I have to resist my temptations of tasting it 😛

Kissable Kiwi: Has an interesting light green shade, but leaves no color on the lips which is pretty good! However, I’m not so much of a fan of it’s fragrance. It isn’t bad but maybe not fit for my personal preference. Kinda reminds me of some lemon scented dish washing soap.

Vanilla Ice: Again, an interesting shade of blue! But wait, it smells SOOOOOO GOOD! I love vanilla and this one’s definitely my favorite. I’ve been using this variant the most and I so love it! Trust me, you must give it a try.

Results

  1. Since the lip balms are natural and non-toxic, that adds up to the ‘feel-good’ factor!

  2. They absolutely aren’t lying when they claim these lip balms give you baby soft lips. I feel the difference instantly.

  3. My lips feel more nourished and softer than before.

  4. The fact that these lip balms don’t have an aftertaste works best for me.

  5. Except the Kiwi variant, I loved the vanilla and strawberry fragrances. Hence I tend to use these two more often.

  6. They stay on my lips for quite long and I don’t need to reapply for hours.

  7. It says, SPF induced but doesn’t mention what SPF so I’m not very sure of the UV protection part.

  8. I’ve been using these to prep my lips before makeup and it works pretty well even for matte lipsticks!

Do I recommend?

Hell yes! You should not live without trying the Vanilla Ice flavor! However, Strawberry and Kiwi are great too. You definitely feel them working their wonders on your lips and hey! Here’s an exclusive 25% DISCOUNT CODE for you guys : MEGH25
